Online Audience Development Manager

POSITION RESPONSIBILITY SUMMARY:
Responsible for the evolution, adoption, implementation and overall success of social media products across all Penton Media brands. Closely monitor reader behavior, market trends and competitor activities in the social media space and translate these findings into products that connect information and transform content readers to become content publishers, which over time will increase size of your audience and increase traffic to your website.

Understand how various site elements, including site structure, titles, tags, link popularity, content, etc. can be optimized to affect natural search results, page rank and site traffic and be able to communicate this clearly to partners. Analyze existing websites to fine-tune existing pages to improve SEO results. Work with a team of project managers, designers, editors and technology experts throughout the entire lifecycle of a website to produce the SEO strategy and feed SEO-specific findings into a broader online media strategy. Educate and train editorial teams about SEO trends and techniques that will deliver results.

Create and understand reports that yield qualitative and quantitative trends for ongoing SEO/SMO efforts and develop an action plan for implementation. Provide written analysis of website performance with written recommendations based on analysis.

Stay current with industry best practices and search engine technologies. Show continued effort to develop new knowledge of emerging social media technologies, trends and competitive offerings; anticipate their impact and application to new and existing services.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
• Previous experience in the technical production of website or web-related projects with exposure to optimizing sites for search engines.
• Knowledge of and experience with SEO analysis software and keyword research tools.
• In-depth knowledge of trends in online communities and social media desired.
• A strong customer service orientation and the ability to foster relationships are a necessity.
• Experience in Online publishing including HTML, web editing software, and content management tools necessary. Familiarity with RSS, downloadable and streaming media, Web 2.0 technologies, social media and social networking.
• Must have strong communication skills (written and verbal), interpersonal skills, a positive attitude and the ability to thrive in a collaborative environment. Able to successfully organize, prioritize and manage on a day-to-day basis, multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment.
• 2 plus years work experience in online product marketing or new media environment
• Minimum education is a 4-year bachelor's degree, with a background in online marketing, journalism, computer technology
• Must be fluent in MS Office, Dreamweaver and Photoshop
